Oxidative stress contributes to the pathology of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. Galectin-1 has shown an anti-oxidative stress effect. The present study investigated whether this anti-oxidative stress effect can account for the neuroprotective actions of galectin-1 induced by cerebral I/R injury. A cerebral I/R injury model was created in C57Bl/6 mice by transient occlusion of the middle cerebral artery, after which the mice were treated with galectin-1 for 3 days. Infarct volumes were measured. A rotarod test and neurological deficit score assessment was performed to evaluate the neurological deficits. Oxidative stress was evaluated by measuring the levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and lipid peroxidation malondialdehyde (MDA), while the anti-oxidative stress status was assessed by measuring molecules such as catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidation enzyme (GSH-Px) in the ischemic cerebral hemisphere of mice. The inflammatory cytokines, including Interleukin 1 (IL-1), IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) were measured, and the expression of microglia was evaluated by immunohistochemistry in the ischemic cerebral hemisphere of mice. Galectin-1 treatment ameliorated neurological deficits and reduced infarct volumes in the mice model with cerebral I/R injury. Moreover, it was demonstrated that galectin-1 can significantly alleviate cerebral I/R injury in the ischemic cerebral hemisphere by decreasing the production of ROS and MDA, but increasing the production of CAT, SOD and GSH-Px. Galectin-1 treatment decreased microglia expression, and IL-1, IL-6 and TNF-α levels in the ischemic cerebral hemisphere of mice. Galectin-1 could improve the outcome of cerebral I/R injury by alleviating oxidative stress. Moreover, the neuroprotective effect of galectin-1 in cerebral ischemia could be related to its anti-oxidative stress effect.

Styphnolobium japonicum L. is a commonly consumed plant in China, known for its medicinal and nutritional benefits. This study focuses on the medicinal properties influenced by flavonoid metabolites, which vary during flower development. Utilizing full-length transcriptome sequencing on S. japonicum flowers, we observed changes in gene expression levels as the flowers progressed through growth stages. During stages S1 and S2, key genes related to flavonoid synthesis (PAL, 4CL, CHS, F3H, etc.) exhibited heightened expression. A weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) identified regulatory genes (MYB, bHLH, WRKY) potentially involved in the regulatory network with flavonoid biosynthesis-related genes. Our findings propose a regulatory mechanism for flavonoid synthesis in S. japonicum flowers, elucidating the genetic underpinnings of this process. The identified candidate genes present opportunities for genetic enhancements in S. japonicum, offering insights into potential applications for improving its medicinal attributes.

Autophagy is a central biodegradation pathway critical in eliminating intracellular cargo to maintain cellular homeostasis and improve stress resistance. At the same time, the key component of the mitogen-activated protein kinase cascade regulating cell wall integrity signaling MoMkk1 has an essential role in the autophagy of the rice blast fungus Magnaporthe oryzae. Still, the mechanism of how MoMkk1 regulates autophagy is unclear. Interestingly, we found that MoMkk1 regulates the autophagy protein MoAtg9 through phosphorylation. MoAtg9 is a transmembrane protein subjected to phosphorylation by autophagy-related protein kinase MoAtg1. Here, we provide evidence demonstrating that MoMkk1-dependent MoAtg9 phosphorylation is required for phospholipid translocation during isolation membrane stages of autophagosome formation, an autophagic process essential for the development and pathogenicity of the fungus. In contrast, MoAtg1-dependent phosphorylation of MoAtg9 negatively regulates this process, also impacting growth and pathogenicity. Our studies are the first to demonstrate that MoAtg9 is subject to MoMkk1 regulation through protein phosphorylation and that MoMkk1 and MoAtg1 dichotomously regulate autophagy to underlie the growth and pathogenicity of M. oryzae.IMPORTANCEMagnaporthe oryzae utilizes multiple signaling pathways to promote colonization of host plants. MoMkk1, a cell wall integrity signaling kinase, plays an essential role in autophagy governed by a highly conserved autophagy kinase MoAtg1-mediated pathway. How MoMkk1 regulates autophagy in coordination with MoAtg1 remains elusive. Here, we provide evidence that MoMkk1 phosphorylates MoAtg9 to positively regulate phospholipid translocation during the isolation membrane or smaller membrane structures stage of autophagosome formation. This is in contrast to the negative regulation of MoAtg9 by MoAtg1 for the same process. Intriguingly, MoMkk1-mediated MoAtg9 phosphorylation enhances the fungal infection of rice, whereas MoAtg1-dependant MoAtg9 phosphorylation significantly attenuates it. Taken together, we revealed a novel mechanism of autophagy and virulence regulation by demonstrating the dichotomous functions of MoMkk1 and MoAtg1 in the regulation of fungal autophagy and pathogenicity.

The protective role of hydrogen sulfide against cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury involves the inhibition of the RhoA-/Rho-associated coiled-coil kinase (ROCK) pathway. However, the specific mechanism remains elusive. This study investigates the impact of hydrogen sulfide on RhoA phosphorylation at serine 188 (Ser188) in vivo, aiming to test the hypothesis that hydrogen sulfide exerts neuroprotection by enhancing RhoA phosphorylation at Ser188, subsequently inhibiting the RhoA/ROCK pathway. Recombinant RhoAwild-pEGFP-N1 and RhoAS188A-pEGFP-N1 plasmids were constructed and administered via stereotaxic injection into the rat hippocampus. A rat global cerebral ischemia-reperfusion model was induced by bilateral carotid artery ligation to elucidate the neuroprotective mechanisms of hydrogen sulfide. Both RhoAwild-pEGFP-N1 and RhoAS188A-pEGFP-N1 plasmids expressed RhoAwild and RhoAS188A proteins, respectively, in rat hippocampal tissues, alongside the intrinsic RhoA protein. Systemic administration of the exogenous hydrogen sulfide donor sodium hydrosulfide led to an increase in Ser188 phosphorylation of transfected RhoAwild and intrinsic RhoA protein within the hippocampus. However, this effect was not observed in tissues transfected with RhoAS188A. Sodium hydrosulfide-mediated RhoA phosphorylation correlated with decreased RhoA and ROCK2 activity in rat hippocampal tissues. Furthermore, sodium hydrosulfide administration reduced cerebral ischemia-reperfusion-induced neuronal damage and apoptosis in rat hippocampal tissues transfected with RhoAwild. However, this neuroprotective effect was attenuated in rats transfected with RhoAS188A. These findings suggest that the neuroprotective mechanism of hydrogen sulfide against cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury involves increased RhoA phosphorylation at Ser188. Promoting this phosphorylation may represent a potential intrinsic therapeutic target for ischemic stroke.

Contact resistance has become one of the main bottlenecks that hinder further improvement of mobility and integration density of organic field-effect transistors (OFETs). Much progress has been made in reducing contact resistance by modifying the electrode/semiconductor interface and decreasing the crystal thickness, however, the development of new organic semiconductor materials with low contact resistance still faces many challenges. Here, 2,6-bis-phenylethynyl-anthracene (BPEA) is found, which is a material that combines high mobility with low contact resistance. Single-crystal BEPA OFETs with a thickness of ≈20 nm demonstrated high mobility of 4.52 cm2  V-1  s-1 , contact resistance as low as 335 Ω cm, and band-like charge transport behavior. The calculated compatibility of the EHOMO of BPEA with the work function of the Au electrode, and the decreased |EHOMO -ΦAu | with the increase of external electric field intensity from source to gate both contributed to the efficient charge injection and small contact resistance. More intriguingly, p-type BPEA as a buffer layer can effectively reduce the contact resistance, improve the mobility, and meanwhile inhibit the double-slope electrical behavior of p-channel 2,6-diphenyl anthracene (DPA) single-crystal OFETs.

Single-photon light detection and ranging (LiDAR) is widely used to reconstruct 3D scenes. Nevertheless, depth and reflectivity maps obtained by single-photon detection usually suffer from noise problems. Threshold LiDAR techniques using photon-number-resolving detectors were proposed to suppress noise by filtering low photon numbers, but these techniques renounce multiple levels of information and could not be compatible when it comes to high-noise low-signal regime. In this manuscript, we propose a detection scheme which combines the noise suppression of threshold detection with the signal amplification of photon-number-resolving detectors to further enhance LiDAR performance. The enhancement attained is compared to single-photon and threshold detection schemes under a wide range of signal and noise conditions, in terms of signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR), detection rate and false alarm rate, which are key metrics for LiDAR. Extensive simulations and real-world experiments show that the proposed scheme can reconstruct better depth and reflectivity maps. These results enable the development of high-efficient and low-noise LiDAR systems.

Microbe-produced secondary metabolite phenazine-1-carboxylic acid (PCA) facilitates pathogen virulence and defense mechanisms against competitors. Magnaporthe oryzae, a causal agent of the devastating rice blast disease, needs to compete with other phyllosphere microbes and overcome host immunity for successful colonization and infection. However, whether M. oryzae produces PCA or it has any other functions remains unknown. Here, we found that the MoPHZF gene encodes the phenazine biosynthesis protein MoPhzF, synthesizes PCA in M. oryzae, and regulates appressorium formation and host virulence. MoPhzF is likely acquired through an ancient horizontal gene transfer event and has a canonical function in PCA synthesis. In addition, we found that PCA has a role in suppressing the accumulation of host-derived reactive oxygen species (ROS) during infection. Further examination indicated that MoPhzF recruits both the endoplasmic reticulum membrane protein MoEmc2 and the regulator of G-protein signaling MoRgs1 to the plasma membrane (PM) for MoRgs1 phosphorylation, which is a critical regulatory mechanism in appressorium formation and pathogenicity. Collectively, our studies unveiled a canonical function of MoPhzF in PCA synthesis and a noncanonical signaling function in promoting appressorium formation and host infection.

As the most common form of dementia in the world, Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurological disorder marked by cognitive and behavioral impairment. According to previous researches, abundant social connections shield against dementia. However, it is still unclear how exactly social interactions benefit cognitive abilities in people with AD and how this process is used to increase their general cognitive performance. In this study, we found that single novel social (SNS) stimulation promoted c-Fos expression and increased the protein levels of mature ADAM10/17 and sAPPα in the ventral hippocampus (vHPC) of wild-type (WT) mice, which are hippocampal dorsal CA2 (dCA2) neuron activity and vHPC NMDAR dependent. Additionally, we discovered that SNS caused similar changes in an AD model, FAD4T mice, and these alterations could be reversed by α-secretase inhibitor. Furthermore, we also found that multiple novel social (MNS) stimulation improved synaptic plasticity and memory impairments in both male and female FAD4T mice, accompanied by α-secretase activation and Aß reduction. These findings provide insight into the process underpinning how social interaction helps AD patients who are experiencing cognitive decline, and we also imply that novel social interaction and activation of the α-secretase may be preventative and therapeutic in the early stages of AD.

Concentrated coal slime serves as a clean and promising fluid fuel and is commonly employed via pipeline transportation. Currently, there are still limitations in understanding the rheological properties of coal slime, including its yield stress, viscoelasticity, and the impact of factors, such as temperature, on these properties. Therefore, we conducted tests to examine the rheological properties and yield stress of coal slime at various temperatures for two different concentrations using a pipeline transportation system and rheometers. Furthermore, due to the challenges in measuring dynamic yield stress caused by the shear bands of highly viscous slime, a method using the residual pressure inside the pipeline after cessation of transportation is proposed. The viscoelasticity of coal slime at various temperatures was examined through oscillatory shear tests. Finally, the pressure wave velocity in the pipeline transportation system was used to determine the bulk modulus. The results indicated that the shear stress under high shear rates decreased with an increase in temperature, while the yield stress and shear stress under low shear conditions gradually increased with temperature. The coal slime exhibited certain viscoelasticity with shear elasticity increasing as the temperature rose. The pressure wave velocity in the pipeline remained constant and did not vary significantly with temperature.

SCOPE: To investigate the effects of fiber-rich diets (FDs), rope skipping (RS), and the combination of these two interventions (fiber-rich diet with rope skipping [FD-RS]) on memory, executive function in young adults, and to explore their relationship with gut microbiota. MATERIALS AND RESULTS: The study is a 12-week parallel-design randomized controlled trial in which 120 undergraduates (19 ± 1 years) are randomized to FD (fiber ≥ 20 g day-1 ), RS (3 × 2000 times per week), FD-RS or control group (n = 30 per group). Memory and executive function are assessed by scales, and stool samples are collected at baseline and after the intervention. FD group and FD-RS group show fewer prospective and retrospective subjective memory impairments than the control group, but there is no significant difference between FD-RS and the intervention alone (FD or RS). No obvious change in executive function is observed throughout the trial. In terms of the gut microbiota, the α-diversity does not increase, but the microbial community evenness improves after the RS and FD intervention. Additionally, the relative abundance of phylum Firmicutes and genera Faecalibacterium, Eubacterium_coprostanoligenes_group in the RS group and NK4A214_group in the FD group significantly increase. In the RS group, a correlation is found between the increase in microbial evenness and the improvement in retrospective memory. CONCLUSION: The FD and FD-RS have beneficial effects on memory in young adults. Meanwhile, FD and RS can improve the microbial evenness and increase several beneficial genera of phylum Firmicutes.

OBJECTIVE: To identify the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) of docetaxel combined with a fixed dose of cisplatin (75 mg/m²) delivered as hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) in patients with ovarian cancer. METHODS: In this phase I trial, a time-to-event Bayesian optimal interval design was used. Docetaxel was given at a starting dose of 60 mg/m² and was increased in 5 mg/m² increments until the MTD was determined or the maximum dose level of 75 mg/m² was reached. The dose-limiting toxicity (DLT) rate was set at 25%, with a total sample size of 30 patients. HIPEC was delivered immediately following debulking surgery at a target temperature of 43°C for 90 minutes. RESULTS: From August 2022 to November 2022, 30 patients were enrolled. Among the patients who received a dose of docetaxel ≤65 mg/m², no DLT was reported. DLTs were observed in one patient who received 70 mg/m² docetaxel (grade 3 anaemia) and in three patients who received 75 mg/m² docetaxel (one case of grade 3 anaemia, one case of grade 3 hepatic impairment and one case of grade 4 thrombocytopenia). Patients treated with docetaxel 75 mg/m² in combination with cisplatin 75 mg/m² had an estimated DLT rate of 25%, which was the closest to the target DLT rate and was therefore chosen as the MTD. CONCLUSION: Docetaxel, in combination with a fixed dose of cisplatin (75 mg/m²), can be used safely at intraperitoneal doses of 75 mg/m² in ovarian cancer patients who received HIPEC (43°C, 90 minutes) following debulking surgery. OBJECTIVE: To determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) of paclitaxel combined with a fixed dose of cisplatin (75 mg/m2) delivered via hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) to patients with ovarian cancer. METHODS: This multicenter Phase I trial employed a Bayesian Optimal Interval (BOIN) design. The MTD was determined to have a target dose-limiting toxicity (DLT) rate of 25%. The starting dose was 175 mg/m2. The Data and Safety Monitoring Board made decisions regarding dose escalation or de-escalation in increments of 25 mg/m2 for subsequent patient cohorts, up to a maximum sample size of 30 or 12 patients treated at a given dose. RESULTS: Twenty-one patients participated in this study. Among the three evaluable patients who received 150 mg/m2 paclitaxel, no DLTs were observed. Among the 12 evaluable patients who received 175 mg/m2 paclitaxel, two reported DLTs: one had grade 4 neutropenia and one had grade 4 anemia, neutropenia, and leukopenia. Four of the six evaluable patients who received 200 mg/m2 paclitaxel reported DLTs: one patient had grade 4 diarrhea, one had grade 3 kidney injury, and two had grade 4 anemia. The isotonic estimate of the DLT rate in the 175 mg/m2 dose group was 0.17 (95% confidence interval, 0.02-0.42), and this dose was selected as the MTD. CONCLUSION: Paclitaxel, when combined with a fixed dose of cisplatin (75 mg/m2), can be safely administered intraperitoneally at a dose of 175 mg/m2 in patients with ovarian cancer who received HIPEC (43 °C, 90 min) following cytoreductive surgery.

Agricultural drainage significantly affected the changes of soil moisture and salinity in ditch wetlands. These changes can profoundly impact the spatial distribution and evolution of ditch wetland vegetation, thereby affecting the ecological environmental effects of these wetlands. Consequently, it is imperative to investigate the response of typical plant growth to drainage and soil salt in ditch wetlands in arid regions. Based on the classical metapopulation conceptual framework model (Levins model), this study established a new model of plant growth change in ditch wetlands, incorporating the key variables (water level and soil salinity) of arid area ditch wetlands. The application of the Gaussian model facilitates the resolution of species growth rates and mortality rates within this model. The study focused on the main drainage ditch (ditch M) and the drainage bucket ditch (ditch N) in the Lubotan saline-alkali land in Fuping, Shaanxi Province. The results revealed the following key findings: 1) the model effectively simulates the response of plant growth changes to water level and soil salinity in ditch wetlands in arid regions, particularly plants in the reed area and transition area disturbed by single factors such as water level and soil salinity; 2) the germination period of Phragmites australis in the reed area thrives in a shallow moisture environment, and adjusting the water level of the drainage ditch can maintain optimal growth conditions for Phragmites australis; 3) during the germination period of Suaeda salsa in the transition area, soil salinity should not be excessively high, though a moderate increase in soil salinity can promote the germination and growth of Suaeda salsa; and 4) Suaeda salsa in the symbiotic area has a higher adaptability to the soil salinity, with change in biomass consistent with plants in the transition area. The model provides an explanation and prediction for the growth changes of plant communities in ditch wetlands under drainage conditions. By integrating this model with the impact of farmland drainage on water level and soil salinity in drainage ditches, effective drainage management measures can be formulated, offering scientific support for the construction of ecological irrigation areas.

The eradication of poliomyelitis is a landmark achievement in the history of public health, providing strong protection for children's health. The introduction of the Chinese Regulations for the Manufacture and Control of Live Poliovirus Vaccine is a prerequisite and safeguard for the large-scale production and use of domestically produced live poliovirus vaccines, serving as an indispensable component of vaccine safety. This article, based on archival documents, letters, collections of essays, and oral interviews, examines the historical experience of the development of Chinese Regulations for the Manufacture and Control of Live Poliovirus Vaccine. It contends that the emphasis on localization and the active engagement in international cooperation are critical factors in the swift introduction of Chinese Regulations for the Manufacture and Control of Live Poliovirus Vaccine.

Child health is an important public health issue in China and the Chinese government always attached great importance to child health care. With the implementation of a series of medical and health reforms in China in recent decades, the status of child health improved year by year. Objectives This study aims to comprehensively evaluate if the measures implemented in the medical and health reforms effectively promoted the development of Chinese child health care in recent years and provide theoretical support for future decision-making on the policies of child health care in China. Methods A total of six indicators were selected from the China Health Statistics Yearbook. Based on the multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) algorithm, three different evaluation methods were applied in the study, which are the weighted technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution (TOPSIS) method, the weighted rank-sum ratio (RSR) method, and the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation (FCE). Each indicator's weight was calculated by the entropy weight methods objectively. The sensitivity analysis was conducted to validate the stability and accuracy of the rank results. Results The results indicated that the rank values of each year's child health care calculated by the different evaluation methods were not exactly the same, but the overall trend is consistent which is that child health care in China improved year by year from 2000 to 2020. The top 5 were ranked from 2016-2020 and the bottom 5 were ranked from 2000-2004. Conclusions The results indicated that the policies and measures implemented in the medical and health reforms, as well as improved sanitation conditions, availability of healthy food and water, etc., have jointly promoted the development of child health care in China in the past 20 years, providing a scientific theoretical basis for future policy-making to promote child health care.

Previous studies have shown that high intake of dietary fiber (DF) and efficient levels of physical activity are beneficial for cardiometabolic health in middle-aged and elderly populations with cardiometabolic disease. However, evidence from young adults with low cardiometabolic risk is lacking. This study aimed to investigate the effects of various interventions including a high-fiber (HF) diet and the rope-skipping (RS) exercise on cardiometabolic risk factors (CRFs) and the composition of the gut microbiota in young adults. A 12-week parallel-designed randomized controlled trial was conducted in undergraduates (n = 96), who were randomly assigned to the HF group (≥20 g/d DF), the RS group (2000 jumps/week), and the control (CON) group. Among the 84 people who completed the trial, measurements of anthropometric characteristics, biochemical parameters, and gut microbiota were taken at the beginning and end of the intervention. After the intervention, the RS exercise led to a significant decrease in the heart rate and triglyceride levels compared to the CON group (all P < 0.05), but there was no significant difference in CRFs between the HF and CON groups. When compared to baseline, the 12-week HF diet intervention resulted in an increase in fat-free mass, and a decrease in the percentage of body fat and waist circumference (all P < 0.05). With regard to gut microbiota alterations after intervention, we found that compared with the CON group, the relative abundance of Lactobacillus decreased significantly in both the HF group and the RS group, Muribaculaceae decreased in the RS group, and Eubacterium_coprostanoligenes_group decreased in the HF group (all P < 0.05). Finally, shifts in 7 metabolic pathways were detected in the RS group using predictive functional profiling, while only one pathway was altered in the HF group (all P < 0.05). In conclusion, the RS exercise improved body composition compared to the CON group in young adults, while the HF diet just enhanced CRFs in contrast to baseline. Furthermore, both RS and HF interventions altered Lactobacillus and various other gut microbiota. The results indicated that the HF diet and RS exercise could partly benefit cardiometabolic health and modulate gut microbiota in young adults. Trial registration: ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT04834687.

Objective: This study aims to compare the effectiveness and safety of perampanel and oxcarbazepine as monotherapy in children with focal epilepsy (FE). Methods: This is an ambispective, single-center, non-inferiority study comparing the effectiveness and safety of perampanel (PER) monotherapy and oxcarbazepine (OXC) monotherapy in children with newly diagnosed FE. The primary endpoint was a six-month seizure freedom rate. The secondary endpoints included retention, responder, and seizure freedom rates at 3, 6, and 12 months, respectively. Adverse events (AEs) were also recorded for both groups. Results: One hundred and thirty children and adolescents aged from 4 to 18years newly diagnosed with FE between May 2020 and November 2022 in Wuhan Children's Hospital were included. There were 71 patients in the PER group and 59 patients in the OXC group. In the per protocol set (PPS), 50 (78.1%) in the PER group and 43 (78.2%) in the OXC group completed six months of treatment without seizures. The lower 95% CI (66.0%-87.5%) limit of PER was higher than the non-inferiority margin of 62.4% (80% of the 6-month seizure freedom rate in the OXC group); PER was non-inferior to OXC. The 3-month and 12-month seizure freedom rates were 77.1% and 82.9% for the PER group, respectively, while they were 80.4% and 75.8% for the OXC group. There were no serious adverse events in both groups. Conclusion: PER showed comparable effectiveness and safety compared with OXC in children with newly diagnosed focal epilepsy, which might be an effective and safe treatment for children and adolescents with newly diagnosed FE. This study explores the pollution characteristics, risks, and sources of heavy metals in small-scale areas. Rongcheng District, Jieyang City, Guangdong Province was considered as the study area and enrichment factor (EF), pollution load index (PLI), potential ecological risk index (RI), and US EPA health risk assessment model were used to evaluate its environmental risk. Moreover, the source apportionment of heavy metals was analyzed through correlation analysis, the characteristic of spatial distribution, and a PMF model. The results showed that the mean concentrations of ω(Cr), ω(Hg), ω(As), ω(Pb), ω(Ni), ω(Cd), ω(Cu), and ω(Zn) were 54.87, 0.25, 8.35, 56.00, 15.38, 0.35, 30.56, and 124.23 mg·kg-1, respectively. The mean concentrations of all elements exceeded the local soil background value. In terms of EF level, Cr, As, Pb, and Ni showed negligible accumulation; Zn and Cu showed minor accumulation; and Hg and Cd showed moderate accumulation. The mean value of the pollution load index was 2.37, with a severe pollution level, and the eight elements were in different pollution levels. In total, the study region suffered severe ecological risk, Hg and Cd presented strong ecological risk, and other elements presented slight ecological risk. The non-carcinogenic risks under the three exposure paths were within the acceptable level. The carcinogenic risks (CR) of adults and children were 9.81E-05 and 5.59E-04, respectively, and Cr and As were the main contributors of CR. The results showed that the four sources of heavy metals were transportation sources (37.02%), parent material sources (18.53%), atmospheric deposition sources (26.49%), and industrial sources (17.96%).

Background: Parkinson's disease is a neurological disorder that can cause gait disturbance, leading to mobility issues and falls. Early diagnosis and prediction of freeze episodes are essential for mitigating symptoms and monitoring the disease. Objective: This review aims to evaluate the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-based gait evaluation in diagnosing and managing Parkinson's disease, and to explore the potential benefits of this technology for clinical decision-making and treatment support. Methods: A thorough review of published literature was conducted to identify studies, articles, and research related to AI-based gait evaluation in Parkinson's disease. Results: AI-based gait evaluation has shown promise in preventing freeze episodes, improving diagnosis, and increasing motor independence in patients with Parkinson's disease. Its advantages include higher diagnostic accuracy, continuous monitoring, and personalized therapeutic interventions. Conclusion: AI-based gait evaluation systems hold great promise for managing Parkinson's disease and improving patient outcomes. They offer the potential to transform clinical decision-making and inform personalized therapies, but further research is needed to determine their effectiveness and refine their use.
